Wellness Wannabe: Amethyst

 What is it?

Amethyst has quite the history. It was considered a jewel by the ancient Egyptians, Tibetans associate Amethyst with their Buddha, and it was traditionally used by the Greeks to protect themselves from overindulging in drinks, assisting with visualization, and balancing their emotions.

Amethyst was a very prized stone as it was uncommon to across... that is until they hit it big in Brazil. Now everyone can have Amethyst! In addition to Brazil, Amethyst can be primary found in Uruguay, Russia, southern Africa, Ontario & even in the USA!

Amethyst is considered to be a purple variety of quartz and can range from having very light to very dark shades of purple.

How Does it Benefit Me?

Amethyst is known for its peaceful metaphysical properties. It symbolizes wisdom, deep love, and peace of mind. People like having it around to remind themselves to focus on maintaining a nice balance of emotional highs and lows and to assist them with calming down when they are starting to get anxious.

For these reasons, this stone is great to have around popular places in your home - high traffic areas. It is also often used during meditation because it stimulates your crown (head) chakra and amplifies creative vibes.

How Do I Use it?

Use your amethyst to remind yourself to be at peace, full of love, and calm in crazy situations.

Place it on your desk, somewhere in your living room, or another place that is special to you.

If you want to use it for meditation, hold on to a piece or place it around you and focus on letting it's energy soothe your mind and emotions so you set new peaceful intentions for yourself.
